What learning methods does Blossom and Bloom Tutoring Services apply?
At Blossom and Bloom Tutoring Services, we apply the Barton Reading and Writing Method, tailored to each child's unique strengths and needs. This method has proven to be very effective in helping students with dyslexia to improve their reading and writing skills.
What age do you cater for?
At Blossom and Bloom, Jade provides services for children aged 6 and older, as well as adolescents and adults
For dyslexia specialist tutoring, how long is each session and how often do students attend?
Each session is 1 hour in length. Two 1 hour sessions/week is recommended for each student. The two sessions weekly facilitates retention of material, allowing students to absorb the concepts efficiently. Depending on circumstances, available time and budget, you may choose to attend one 1 hour session/week noting that this is possible but the program will take longer to cover.
What is the fee structure for specialized tutoring?
A standard 1 hour session costs $75. As spots are limited, to confirm your ongoing appointments, fees are invoiced each term and payable up front. An additional $30/term printing fee is added for all in-person students. Students starting mid-term will be charged pro-rata.
Is a support person required to attend Barton Method sessions alongside students?
Yes, when parents or support persons participate in tutoring sessions alongside the student, learning the reading and spelling strategies together, they become better equipped to assist with the student's homework effectively. Regardless of age, all students benefit from support when completing the homework assigned during tutoring sessions.
Are there other services offered at Blossom and Bloom
Yes, Blossom and Bloom hosts The Homework Hub designed. Our tailored sessions offer small group homework assistance for students in a cozy and purpose-designed space. With groups of up to three students, our after-school sessions, running for 1 hour, focus on homework assignments or specific areas of concern. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where students can excel academically.
